My Approach
I believe that each client is unique, so there is not a set way that I will work with you, and I follow your lead within the sessions to guide me into working with you in a way that you are most comfortable.
My approach is very person centred, which gives my clients a safe and trusted space to discuss any issues which they have. Clients often don’t realise until they have had counselling but they are the experts on themselves, and I often act as a facilitator for them to recognise this and help them to recognise how strong and resilient they are.
I always try to put myself in the clients position so I can fully understand how and why something is affecting them. Clients often start counselling feeling that they are not listened to and do not feel that their feelings are or will be validated, so I try to establish with clients that I am listening to them and I understand them and I care.
It may seem like a strange career move to many, knowing that I previously worked as a Lawyer, and retrained to become a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, but I feel strongly that both are about working with and helping people. I became a lawyer because I wanted to give a voice to those that did not have one, and after many years in law I did not feel that I was helping people as much as I could and wanted to, so I retrained to become a counsellor. I've experienced counselling myself, lived with Trauma, and seen first hand just how much counselling can help, and I approach working with my clients with my own experience both as a client and as a counsellor to help me to really understand the people I help.
How It Works and Pricing
Free 30 minute initial appt online
This gives you an opportunity to meet and speak with me to see if I am the right counsellor for you. Research has shown that the relationship you have with your therapist is one of the most important parts of the process, and a good connection will help make the process and conversation easier, and mean you feel cared for an supported.
How to book a free initial appointment
You can call or book online for initial appointment, which is held online. Once we have met, and we both wish to continue, we can make further appointments.
When are appointments available, and where to they take place?
I offer appointments from 8.00am – 9.00pm Monday to Friday, and by prior arrangement for a weekend or outside of these hours.
I offer sessions face to face (with most emphasis on being face to face as I believe this is most effective for clients) as well as online and telephone appointments where required.
I mostly work from home, as I find this is often more comfortable for clients then attending a session at an office building or other impersonal space.

How much do sessions cost?
I offer individual sessions at £50 per hour
Couples sessions are £120 for a 1.5hour session (extended sessions work best for couples counselling)
